We are your local Natomas, Sacramento, CA CEREC dentists for single-visit tooth restorations. Why go to the dentist a second time if you don’t have to?
CEREC CAD/CAM dentistry involves taking a digital impression from one or more scans using visible light scanning, digital radiographs, CT scans, or other methods. It then involves designing the restoration on the computer leading to a 3D model and manufacturing the restoration.
By using the CAD/CAM machine, it allows our dentists/master ceramist to construct, produce, and insert individual ceramic restorations directly at the point of treatment (chairside) in a single appointment, rather than over multiple appointments. This makes CEREC/CAM dentistry very popular among our patients. Ladies and gentleman, this is the same-day crown.
How does it work?
During a chair side treatment, our master ceramist carries out all the steps, from digital impressions and computer-based construction of the restoration to the milling process, inside their office. The master ceramist uses an intraoral camera to take a photo of the prepared tooth, the opposing teeth, and the bite registration.
Based on the images, the CEREC software creates a virtual model of the patient’s tooth. The master ceramist uses this model to construct the tooth restoration on the screen and then passes on the finished construction within the office’s network or sends it wirelessly to a milling machine. The master ceramist will then add the finishing touches to the restoration by painting, polishing, and glazing it, before the dentist can cement it.
